About

School Toolkit is a website and app that has been produced with parents at the heart of it. The fundamental aim of the website is to engage with parents and offer support and guidance about children’s education in Derby.
It has been developed by two mums of children at various stages of school life, ranging from early years, primary and secondary. They both work in the education sector and have many years of experience between them both. It has been supported by Family Engagement Officers from nineteen primary schools from the Derby Opportunity Area. These officers are also working as Teachers, Safeguarding Managers, Learning Mentors, Senior Leaders and Head Teachers.
School Toolkit has been created to provide parents a support tool that they can access when they want answers to questions about their child, or when they find parenting challenging.
The website covers topics from Early Years i.e. Reception to Key Stage 1 – Year 1 and 2 to Key Stage 2, Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. It covers key areas under: Academic, Health and Well-being, School, Safety and Community.
The website and app is aimed specifically to bridge the gap between school life and home. As parents, we all have different worries and concerns at different stages of our child’s school life. School Toolkit is full of useful links, resources and recommendations that will help to inform you, as a parent and give you the right tools to engage positively with your child and their school.
